H. “Patsy” Jayroe Goodwin, age 98, died June 16, 2009 in McKinley Court Care Center.
Graveside services will be Friday, June 19 at 11:00 am, in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. There will be no visitation.
Patsy was born October 19, 1910 in Peru, Illinois, the daughter of Norman and Mellie Bradford. She grew up in Keenes, Illinois, and lived most of her adult life in Mattoon with her husband, G.W. Truett Jayroe, whom she married on May 4, 1930. After his death she married Rev. Foster Goodwin in 1969, and continued to reside in Mattoon, even after his death. In October 1996 she moved to her son’s home in Decatur.
During her active years she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mattoon, and through her life remained faithful to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Surviving are her two sons, E. Leroy Lora Jayroe os Phoenix, Arizona, and Terry Darlene Jayroe of Decatur; son-in-law, Joe Frederick of Showlow, Arizona; stepdaughter, Ramona Goodwin Landris, of Chicago; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; daughter, Earlita Jayroe Frederick; eight sisters, Margaret, Maxine, Opal;, Martha, Edna, Lelia, Wilma, and Esther; and one brother, Norman, Jr.
The family of H. “Patsy” Jayroe Goodwin is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur.
