Helen Bass' Obituary
Helen Bass, 92, of Decatur, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at Heartland of Decatur with her family by her side.
Helen was born April 29, 1924 in Brownsville, Tennessee, the daughter of Alonzo and Pauline (Hines) Currie. She was previously employed with Pictsweet in Brownsville, Tennessee. Helen enjoyed fishing and was an excellent cook. She married Roosevelt W. Bass. He preceded her in death February 23, 1993.
Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons LV and Colliga Bass both of Decatur, daughter Dorothy Faye Bass of Decatur, one brother Alonzo Currie of Brownsville, Tennessee, special nieces and nephews Patricia Currie, Shelia Bennet, Rod Currie, and Russell Currie, special friend Josephine Patterson, seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Helen was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, sons RV and Willie Bass, special niece Henrymay Currie Hess, three brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Heartland of Decatur for all of their loving care.
Homegoing services to celebrate Helen’s life will be 11 AM Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be 1 PM Monday, July 18, 2016 in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
