Helen Marie Delaney Alsup's Obituary
Helen Marie Delaney Alsup was born on a farm near Warrensburg, Illinois on December 5, 1919. She died November 26, 2007 in Naperville, Illinois.
She was the daughter of Joseph Delaney and Sarah McGuire Delaney. She was one of six children. Her brother, Robert Delaney, survives her.
She was married to John W. Alsup. He was an Illinois State Legislator. She was active in his political career and was his enthusiastic partner for 40 years. He predeceased her in 1980.
She raised seven children: John W. Alsup, Jr. , Susan Alsup Rogers husband Albert Rogers, Carol Alsup Fisch husband John Fisch, Elizabeth Crawley Alsup , Martha Alsup, Margaret Alsup Tiffin husband Andrew Tiffin and Josephine Meystedt Alsup. Daughters, Elizabeth and Martha predeceased her.
She was very involved in the lives of her children and especially active in their educations. They all attended St. Thomas grade school and St. Teresa High School.
She was also always active in her church, St. Thomas and later Holy Family.
She was proud of her 16 grandchildren:

Her 6 grandsons will act as her pallbearers.
She also had 7 great grandchildren.
She wrote, "I've had a good life, a good marriage, a good large family, of whom I am very proud. Thank you, God, for it all."
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of choice or to The Alsup Scholarship Fund at St. Teresa High School.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 pm Friday, November 30, 2007 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 5:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Rev. Joe Molloy celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur.
