Hilda Rosalie Niles' Obituary
Mt. Zion-Hilda Rosalie Niles, 88, of Mt. Zion, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center in Moweaqua.
Hilda was born March 12, 1926, in Toledo, Illinois, the daughter of George and Lilly Iona (Tipsword) Ferris. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a member of God’s Abundant Love Fellowship and enjoyed listening to the bible, needlepoint, and crocheting. She married Glenn E. Niles on March 12, 1947 in Decatur. He preceded her in death April 18, 2012.
Hilda leaves behind her daughters Donna (Lyle) Richards of Nixa, Missouri and Carol (Steven Michael) Vail of rural Herrick, sons Terry (Tina) Niles and Billy Niles all of Mt. Zion, and Kevin (Sherry) Niles of Heyworth, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Hilda was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, infant son in 1947, infant great-grandson in 2014, one brother, and two sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the great, loving staff at Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center for our mother’s care. We appreciate the kindness shown to our mother and family from the fourth floor staff at St. Mary’s Hospital during her recent illness. Also a special thanks to Harbor Light Hospice staff and our four special friends that were there for us to fill in for our family.
Services to celebrate Hilda’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St Decatur. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
