Homer J Cruit's Obituary
Decatur-Homer J. Cruit, 91, of Moweaqua, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at Heartland Manor Care in Decatur with his family at his bedside.
A Service to celebrate the life of Homer will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, visitation 10:00 a.m. till the time of the service. Interment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be directed to SAIL, 2449 Federal Drive Decatur, Illinois 62526.
Homer was born July 17, 1920 in Shelbyville, IL the son of James and Blanch Shoemake Cruit. Homer proudly served his country in the U.S Navy during WWII and retired after 20 years of service. He married Wilma R. Houchins on October 27, 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; step-son, James Houchins of Assumption, step-daughter; Marilyn Mike Lowe of Decatur, grandchildren, Chad and Tim Houchins, great-grandchildren, Alyson, Aaron, Olivia, and Gavin Houchins; sister, Ruby Phelps of Shelbyville, and many nieces and nephews.
Homer was greeted into Heaven by his brothers, John, Kenneth, and Ralph; sisters, Faye Fleshner, and Margie Brooks, grandchild, Mark Lowe and great-granddaughter, Ashlee Houchins.
