Hubert Keith Johnson's Obituary
Hubert “Keith” Johnson, 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in Decatur, IL.
Keith, or "Hobee" to those closest to him, was born in Ramsey, IL, on July 26, 1939, to the late Hubert Archie Johnson and Izola Faye (Brown) Johnson. He served his country in the United States Air Force prior to a lengthy career as a journeyman boilermaker, a proud member of Boilermakers Local Union 363. Additionally, he was a 32nd degree Mason and a Christian of the Baptist faith.
A true lover of bluegrass music, Keith was never happier than when he was singing and playing the guitar or mandolin. He had the opportunity to travel with his wife and son as a member of the Long Creek Bluegrass Band, playing for audiences great and small across the Midwest.
Between working, traveling, and making music, Keith also found time to pick up an appreciation for hunting, camping, and riding motorcycles. He features in many of his family’s most cherished memories and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacquie Johnson; one daughter, Teanna Anderson and husband Larry; two sons, Greg Johnson, Doug Johnson and wife Dara; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Keith will be laid to rest in a small family ceremony.
