Ida Mae Hager's Obituary
Decatur-Ida Mae Hager, 89, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Ida Mae was born October 7, 1923, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she resided until the age of fifty-seven. Ida Mae was the daughter of Jack and Sophia (Terpstra) Kamstra immigrant dairy farmers from Holland. She graduated from Franklin Central High School. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. She was honored for her thousand hours of volunteer work Waterman Memorial Hospital in Florida. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tavares, Florida and Grace United Methodist Church in Decatur, Illinois. She retired to Leesburg, Florida until the death of her husband in 2006 and relocated to Decatur, Illinois, in 2009 to be near her son Steve and wife Jan. She had an extremely giving and caring personality that provided in home care for her and her husband's parents for twenty years. She was the best cook in the world, loved to participate in church activities, and spend time with her family and friends. She was loved by all that knew her. All were attracted to her giving, caring, and warm personality. She married Robert Earl Hager September 27, 1947 in Indianapolis. They shared fifty-nine years together. He preceded her in death November 18, 2006.
She leaves behind her sons Steven E. (Jan) Hager of Decatur and David A. (Alice) Hager of Edmond, Oklahoma, brother Raymond Kamstra of Indianapolis, Indiana, grandchildren Robert, Emily, David, stepdaughters Kim (Von) Haas and Kelly (Doug) Nichols, step-granddaughters Erica Haas, Brianna Haas, Kylie Nichols, and Kierstin Nichols, and nephew Jerry (Phyllis)Hager.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
No services are planned. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
