Ida D. Nicholson's Obituary
Ida Dee Davis Nicholson born July 5, 1934. The daughter of Gilford and Emma Turner Davis. She grew up on a farm. Went to school graduated from Carver High School May 13, 1955. She was a member of the St. Paul M.B. Church. Song with the choir and she was an usher.
In 1970 she moved to Decatur and joined the Mt. Olive M.B. Church. Song with the choir, was the treasurer, president of the missionary, and was a faithful member.
In the early seventies she moved to Topeka, Kansas. Joined the New Jerusalem M.B. Church. She was there for several months and moved back to Decatur. Got a job at the Ambassador Hotel , where she worked for 19 years.
In the early eighties she was added to the North Jasper Church of Christ. Song with the Mass Choir and the Saul Winners. Worked in the kitchen and helped set up the communion until her eyes started giving her problems. She had 3 good brothers, Johnny, Loyd, and Willie Davis Sr. She is the last of the siblings. She leaves to mourn nieces Emily Carol Taylor of Kyle, TX, Vanessa Diane (Jerry) Bracey of Milwaukee WI, Lillie Darlisa (Jake) Tyriq of Atlanta GA, and Detra Davis of Elgin IL. Nephews Willie Davis Jr of Memphis TN, Paul Davis of Kyle TX, Shane and Shawn Williams of Decatur IL. Great nieces Kia, Kendra, Shay, Brianna, and Ashley Davis and Ashanti Tyriq. Great nephews Kevin, Jeremy, and Tyler Davis and Akin and Bohmani Tyriq and many more great great nieces and friends.
Homegoing services will be private. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
