Imogene Dowdell's Obituary
Imogene Dowdell, 82, of Peoria, formerly of Decatur, passed away Friday, April15, 2016 in Unity Point Health Methodist Hospital.
Imogene was born June 7, 1933, in Corbin, Kentucky, the daughter of Kernie and Iva (Huddleston) Day. She married Junior Ray Dowdell on October 25, 1952 In Kincaid, IL. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1995. Imogene retired from St. Mary’s Hospital with over twenty years of service.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Brenda) Dowdell of Dunlap, IL, Randy (Cindy) Dowdell of Sullivan, IL; daughter, Beth (James) Friend of Elk River, MN; brother, Jack Day of Bloomington, IL; sisters, Lucille (Cornelius) Sullivan of Rochester, IL, Kathleen Siler of West Union, OH; grandchildren, Chris, Brad, Monica, Loni, Haley, Hunter, Holly, CJ, Christopher, Brett, Chad; nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Danny Day, Justin Day, and Bobby Day; sisters, Mahala Hall and Mildred White; and one grandson, Tommy Blackford.
Services to celebrate Imogene’s life will be held at 2p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur, IL, 62526. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Easter Seals.
