Irene M. Tower Oakes, 80, of Decatur, died on Monday, September 01, 2003 in Decatur.
Funeral Liturgy will be 5 P.M. Wednesday, September 03, 2003 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will take place on Thursday in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, MI. Condolences to the family at: www.moranandgoebel.com.
Irene was born in Brooklyn, NY. on October 20, 1922 the daughter of Clarence and Anna Keagan Wolcott. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She married Walter B. Tower in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1966, she then married Jacob F. Oakes in 1988 and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Surviving are her son, James E. Rose Tower of Germany; step-sons: Jacob Oakes, Jr. of Levittown, PA.; Paul D. Janice Oakes of Croydon, PA.; step-daughters: Irene M. John Sweck of Oreana; Patricia A. Matthew Armstrong of Florida; sister, Catherine Ulery of Warminster, PA.; 2 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great grandchildren.
Her parents, 2 husbands, and 9 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
