Isabelle Perry's Obituary
Isabelle F. Perry, 99, Decatur, died Monday, September 30, 2019 at her residence.
Isabelle was born January 26, 1920 in Stonington, IL to Francis and Florence McCormick. The youngest sister of nine siblings, she moved to Decatur where she went to secretarial school and then worked at High Flyer.
She married Donald Perry on April 17, 1948 and had seven children. An original member of Our Lady of Lourdes, Isabelle was a devout Catholic. She worked throughout her life, ending her working career as a secretary in Decatur schools. She was a proud Kiwanian and an active volunteer for several charities, including St. Mary’s Auxiliary, Dove, Catholic Charities, and the Macon Historical Society.
Isabelle loved a good joke, was quick to laugh, and enjoyed nearly any social occasion. She was especially fond of babies and bargains and was an expert knitter, quilter, card player, and cinnamon roll baker.
She is survived by five children: Teresa (Frank) Milburn of Seattle, WA, Elizabeth Matters of Minneapolis, MN, Joseph (Janet) Perry of Decatur, Christine Perry of Washington, IN, and Corrine (Mike) McClanahan of Cottonwood, AZ. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Amy Themer, Jason Themer, Kevin (Natalie) Perry, Drew Matters, Reed (Hannah) Matters, Megan (Denton) McAlister, David Milburn, Joel (Kate) Melby, and Hannah (Josh) Schumann; ten great grandchildren: Kayla (Anthony) Monik, Kenna and Kassie Themer, Landon Perry, Jackson, Margot, Amelia, and Holden McAlister, and Scout and Elliot Melby; and one great great grandchild, Lucian Monik.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Donald M. Perry, daughter, Mary Dianne Ford, infant daughter, Ann Marie Perry, infant great granddaughter, Madelyn McAlister, and her parents and siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, October 7, 2019 at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin will celebrate. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Dove. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
