Jack Arnold Castell's Obituary
Jack Arnold Castell, 85 of Decatur passed away on Thursday, December 5 in his home.
Jack was born on July 8, 1928 in Decatur the son of Daniel and Mamie (Hale) Castell. He served in the US navy and attended Millikin University. He was employed by Caterpillar and was an avid golfer. While at Caterpillar, he formed a golf league which he named “The Earthmovers”. The employee credit union like the name and asked if they could use it and it became Earthmover Credit Union. After retirement, he founded and served the Decatur Men’s Golf League for 20 years. At the age of 80, he could still be found out on the golf course. He married Ruth Eloise Kline on August 9 1952 in Stonington. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his sister, Jane Lambert of Riverside, CA; daughter Patricia Castell of Decatur; granddaughters, Allison Castell of Decatur; Rachael Keys (Johnson) of Valley Village, CA; and Courtney Johnson of LaQuinta, CA; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise and son Timothy.
His kindness, humor, and joy of life will always be remembered. We were blessed to have him in our lives and he will be truly missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to DMH Hospice for their care and support.
Private burial will be in Old Stoning ton Cemetery at a later date. There will be no Public services. Memorials are suggested to Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.
