Jack E. Vance's Obituary
Jack E. Vance, 77, of Decatur died Sunday, May 24, 2009 in his home.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be 10:00 am Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Monday in the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with Military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. John's Hospice, St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the family.
Jack was born on January 28, 1932 in Decatur the son of Theodore and Elizabeth Waller Vance. He served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War earning two Purple Hearts. He was past member of American Legion and VFW. He worked for PPG retiring after almost 46 years of service. He married Shirley Flesch on July 18, 1959 in Decatur. His will be missed deeply by his family.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Vance; children, Tammy Lamson Steve of California; Ted Vance of Florida; Todd Vance of Mt. Zion; Tina Wilderman Steve of Mt. Zion; Tom Vance of Decatur; mother Elizabeth Vance of Decatur; brother, Larry Vance of Colorado; grandchildren, Clint, Brett, McKenzie, Haley, Cassidy, Ryan, and Kady.
He was preceded in death by his father.
