James Del Balderson's Obituary
James D. "Del" Balderson 84 of Decatur Died Thursday June 29, 2006 in Imboden Creek Living Center
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday July 3, 2006 in Concordia Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Bruer officiating. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 pm Sunday in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church.
Del was born on May 16, 1922 in Patoka the son of James M. and Pearl Linton Balderson. He was retired from Illinois Bell after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Illinois Pioneer Bell Club. He enjoyed being a Golf Ranger at Hickory Point Golf Course for over ten years. He was a founding member Decatur Bell Golf League and was an avid golfer for many years. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Golden K. He was a Charter member of Concordia Lutheran Church and on the board of Trustees for over 40 years. He married Marguerite M. Schramm on March 28, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.
Surviving are his wife Marguerite, son, Stephen D. Balderson and wife Pat of Urbana; daughter, Linda Cope of Holland, VT; four grandchildren, Jadii Rodgers and husband Scott of Champaign; Tyler Balderson, Samuel Balderson, Katy Balderson all of Urbana; three great-grandchildren Taylor, Jaedon, and Margaret all of Champaign; cousins, Eileen Linton of Mt. Zion; Jan Beadles of Decatur
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Virginia Thornton.
