James E. Dewalt's Obituary
James E. Dewalt, 74, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his special companion, Martha Seals, and his sister, Jessie Laverne Grandberry Williams, by his side.
James was born November 29, 1939 in Brownville, TN, the son of Charles and Lizzie (Reed) Dewalt. He married Edna Johnson in Decatur, IL, and they shared 32-years together. Edna passed away on May 9, 1993.
James leaves behind his sons, Charles (Ramona) Dewalt of North Carolina; Eric Dewalt of Decatur, IL; James Dewalt of Tennessee; Gary (Eartha) Dewalt of Centerville, OH; daughter, Kathy Dewalt of Centerville, OH; his special companion of 21-years, Martha Seals of Decatur; extended children, James Phillips; Theresa Seals; brother, Steve Grandberry of Decatur, IL; sister, Jessie Laverne Grandberry Williams of Decatur, IL; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and extended grandchildren, Iziaha Phillips, Jeremiah Robbins, Xavier Freemon, and Damisi Tyler.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Edna; daughter, Elaine Dewalt; and his parents.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of James will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
