James Ray Duncan (Jim), 83 years of age, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026 in Springfield, Illinois at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
James was joined in matrimony to Linda Kay Miller-Gaitros on February 9, 1979. Son of Fay N. (Vanegriffe) Duncan-Dubois and James Ronald Duncan of Owensville, Missouri. Father of James Joseph Duncan of Bartlett, Illinois and Geoffrey Todd Duncan (Holly) of Decatur, Illinois. Loving Grandfather to Kaylynn Duncan, Reagan Duncan, and Callum Duncan. Loving Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim retired from PPG of Mt. Zion, Illinois and from Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Illinois. He enjoyed his retirement by passing the time playing golf and fishing with his son, Geoff, and good friend, Scott Harrison, of Decatur, Illinois as well as spending time with his wife, Linda, taking trips to Maui or sharing a good glass of bourbon with friends and neighbors.
James is survived by his brother Dennis of Atlanta, Georgia and his son Geoff. He is preceded in death by his wife Linda (d. February 25, 2026), his son James (d. April 12, 2025), and his parents Fay (d. March 28, 1998) and James (d. June 29, 1973) as well as his brothers John (d. September 9, 2007) and Gary (d. October 1995).
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
