James C. Gentry's Obituary
James C. Gentry, 76, of Decatur passed away on Saturday September 11, 2010 in his home.
Funeral service celebrating James’s life will be 10:00 am Saturday September 18, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Thompson officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or American Cancer Society.
James was born on August 9, 1934 in Flippin, KY the son of Thomas Hulet and Ida Belle Marsh Gentry. He worked for School District 61 as a custodian and was a member of Union Local 344. He worked for Cash Valve and was a member of Decatur Trades & Labor. He also was a member of the Union Councilors. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and volunteered with the Salvation Army Bell Ringing and numerous food drives. He also volunteered with Safe Kids Day, Baby Love, and the Special Olympics. He married Carol RaeDean Kite on October 21, 1956 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife Carol R. Gentry; sons, James T. Gentry Carol E.;William D. Gentry; Paul M. GentryBecky all of Decatur; daughter, Donna K. White Jason J. of Moweaqua; mother, Ida B. Gentry of Decatur; brother, Lawrence E. Gentry Linda of Decatur; sisters, Donna M. Gentry of Decatur; Louise Cole Dean of Mt. Zion; grandchildren, Robert D. Gentry, Sonny Gentry, Brenna Shelly, Christopher Gentry, Michelle Gentry, Sophia Gentry, Matthew W. White, and Aiden J. White; step-grandchildren, Tanner White, Josh Toberman, and Ryan Toberman.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one brother, Lonnie R. Gentry.
