James Leroy Glass' Obituary
James Leroy Glass departed this life on March 30, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
James was born to the union of George and Perlie Glass on January 16, 1926 in Clarksville, Mississippi. Mr. Glass was raised by a special aunt, Mrs. Nancy Jackson, who relocated to Decatur, Illinois along with his sister, Mrs. Jessie Mae Hunt. Here, he met and shared the wonderful institution of Holy Matrimony with his faithful and loving wife of 47 years, Mrs. Viola Coleman-Glass. Mr. Glass worked and retired from Wagner Casting Co.
Commonly known as “The Lone Ranger”, Mr. Glass will be sorely missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Viola; son, Doyle Townsend of Decatur; brothers-in-law, Johnny Coleman of Decatur; Carl Coleman Yvonne of Milwaukee, WI; sister, Jessie Mae Hunt Lawrence of Decatur; nieces, Nancy Jones Leland, Karen Moore Dion all of Decatur; cousins, Luella Evans, Georgia Barron, Bonnie Britton all of Decatur, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Mr. Glass was preceded in death by his parents, aunt, Nancy, and brother-in-law, Lawrence Hunt.
Homegoing Services celebrating Mr. Glass’ life will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
