James "Jim" Gregory Parker's Obituary
James “Jim” Gregory Parker, 72, of Decatur, IL passed away on April 6, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital hospice care.
Jim was born in Jacksonville, IL on December 11, 1946, the son of Mary Tribble and James Parker.
Jim graduated from Decatur High in 1965 and married Sharon Allen August 14th of the same year. He worked in retail at Carson Jewelers and Sears, law enforcement with the Decatur Police Department, and retired in 2001 from Laborer’s Local 159. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling and a good round of golf. Jim always had stories to tell and a joke or two up his sleeve, he was a lover of laughter.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years Sharon Allen, daughter Nancy Parker, sons Jon and Jimmy Parker, all of Decatur, his brother Tim Parker (Virgina), 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and his partners in crime Bill, Dickie, Larry, Louie, Nolan, Rodney, and Travis.
The family would like to thank Dr. Estrada, Dr. Ontiveros, and the nurses at the Cancer Center, the OCC, and 4th and 5th floors of Decatur Memorial Hospital for the special care and the precious time you helped give us.
Memorial Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home.
