DECATUR'James L. Howard Pie, 60, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate the life of James will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Internment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be directed to the family.
James was born on October 11, 1951, in Stanton, TN, to the parents of Luther and Rheudel Fields Howard. He retired as a molder from the Wagner Casting Co. in 1996. James married Barbara Ann Slater Howard on April 28, 1972 in Decatur, IL.
James leaves behind his wife; sons, Tracy Amie Slater of Decatur, Maurice Darla Slater of Decatur, and Arius Howard of Decatur; daughter, Teresa Derek Hentz of Decatur; brothers, Samuel Howard of Decatur, Steve Annette Howard of Jackson, TN, and Earnest Fields of Nashville, TN; sisters, Carolyn Howard of Jackson, TN, Tremetra Ross of Milan, TN, Barbara Howard of Jackson, TN, and Catricia Tricia Howard of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Tynisha Slater, Amiyah Slater, Tracy Slater Jr., Lakia Grey, Kiana Thomas, Maursharice Wilder, Tyres Owens, Cameron Slater, Nicholas Owens, Raveen Howard, Chatericka Howard, and Canessa West; eight great-grandchildren; special aunts, Geraldine Montgomery and Willie Dean Howard; brother-in-laws, Jerome Carol Slater of Decatur, Patrick Slater of Decatur, Shannon Charity Slater of Decatur, Gregory Peoples of Decatur, and Darren Patricia Peoples of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-laws, Christine Charles Matthews of Decatur, Rachel Virdell Hitchcock of Decatur, and Vernell Bruce Wilson of Bourbonnais, IL; best friend, Marcus Freeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his father, Luther Howard; brother, Matthew Howard; nephew, Vincent Andrews; great-grandson, Claude Anthony Holmes III; and friend, Thomas Brown.
