James W. Lowe's Obituary
James W. Lowe 85, of Decatur died Thursday May 8, 2008 in his home.
Funeral services celebrating Mr. Lowe’s life will be 11:00 am Monday May 12, 2008 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Weise officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorial gifts are suggested to DMH Hospices
James was born on September 28, 1922 in Decatur the son of Myron O. and Augusta E. Laskowski Lowe. He served his country proudly during WWII in the U.S. Army and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Past Commander of VFW Post #99 from 1973-1974. He was also a member of MOCA Pup Tent #62-Seam Squirrel and was a board member five consecutive years. He worked as a cement mason and was a member of Union Local #103. He married Betty A. Gillmore Blancett on August 24, 1990.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, sons, Michael L. Lowe Jo Anne of Decatur; Mitchell D. Lowe Carol of Decatur; daughter, Deborah Faye Lowe of Decatur; brother, Richard D. Lowe of Springfield; sister, Mary L. Snay of Kentwood, MI; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Colby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, James Allen, Melvin James, and an infant son, two brothers, and one sister.
The family of James W. Lowe is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur.
