James Murray's Obituary
James Edward Murray, 70, of Macon, IL, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
James was born July 24, 1949, in Decatur, IL, to William John and Mary Elizabeth (Thull) Murray, Sr. He married Catherine Jean Benge on November 30, 1968 in Macon, IL. He was a cabinet maker for American Fixture Company for many years. James was an avid Kenny Schrader NASCAR fan, dirt track racing fan, loved farming, working on projects for family and friends, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Catherine; his three children, Michael (Kerrie) Murray of St. Louis, MO, Jeanne (Darrick) Hulva of Macon, IL and Jamie (James) Gillum of Macon, IL; four grandchildren, Jarrett and Jacey Hill, Andrew and Olivia Gillum; six siblings, Bill (Elaine) Murray of Auburn, IL, Don (Sharon) Murray of Champaign, IL, Joe (Sheryl) Murray of Macon, IL, Dennis (Robin) Murray of Macon, IL, Dan Murray of Macon, IL, and Rose (Dale) Boulier of Macon, IL; and two brothers-in-law, Vince Brusca of St. Louis, MO and Denny Hunt of Stonington, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Carolyn Brusca and Kathy Hunt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur, IL, hosted by the family. Burial will follow at Macon Cemetery, Macon, IL. Memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospitals for Children — St. Louis Attn: Development Office 4400 Clayton Ave. St. Louis, MO 63110. A Celebration of Life will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Blue Mound Civic Center 551 North Lewis Street, Blue Mound, IL 62513.
