James D. Niesman's Obituary
Forsyth – James D. Niesman, 79, of Forsyth, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jim was born on December 18, 1935 in Decatur, IL the son of Alfonse and Mildred (Daly) Niesman. He was a member of Ss. James & Patrick Catholic Church and retired from Firestone. He was also a driver for Cancer Care for many years. He married Barbara Schwarz on October 20, 1956 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Decatur. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2014.
Surviving are his children: Michael (Ingrid) Niesman of San Diego, CA, Susan Niesman (Stephanie) of Decatur, Steve (Karen) Niesman of Arlington Heights, and Dave (Cindy) Niesman of Buffalo Grove; special son, Jerry (Tiffany) Jones of Decatur; grandchildren: Moira, Peter, Sarah, Anna, John, Ben, and Daniel; sisters: Betty Scott of Taylorville and Mary Carol (Tom) Kasher of Bloomington; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Robert Niesman, and two sisters, Patricia Niesman and Lucille Morton.
Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 am Saturday October 10, 2015 in St. James Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Inn.
In honor of Jim’s wishes his body will be donated for medical research. Burial will take place at a later date.
