James E. " Pete" Willis' Obituary
James E. “Pete” Willis , 84, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in his home.
Pete was born on July 8, 1932 in Annette, Kentucky the son of Vern and Stella (Lasley) Willis. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Laborers Local #159 and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #99. He enjoyed fishing and mowing. He married Shirley Hall on January 25, 1957 in Joliet, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; sons. Robert Willis(Tamara) of Decatur; Timothy Willis of Warrensburg; daughter, Susan Willis of Decatur; brothers, Roy Willis of Texas; Daniel Willis of Tuscola, Gary Willis of Chenoa ; sisters, Maxine Decker of Ohio; Ferina Blattioux of Godley; Betty Harden of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Tracy Roberts and Laura Singletary; brothers, Rudy. Les, Robert, and Coy.
Services to celebrate Pete’s life will be 10 AM Monday, February 13, 2017 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
