James Herman Rakers' Obituary
James Herman Rakers, 81, of Decatur, died on Monday, Oct. 9, 2006 in the Lincoln Manor Nursing Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:15 am Fri, Oct. 13, 2006 in St Patrick Catholic Church, Rev. Jeff Grant celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thurs at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Jim was born on Jan. 2, 1925 in Decatur, the son of Herman and Elizabeth Hines Rakers. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Very Reverend Jeremiah J. Murphy Assembly. Jim worked as a janitor for Taystee Bread for 18 years before retiring, prior to that he worked as a pin setter at Schaefer's Bowl for 14 years.
Surviving is his sisters: Norma E. Rakers, Dolores Barnett and Pauline Hays all of Decatur; Lorraine W.A. Kapper of Niantic; brother, Henry "Al" Joyce Rakers of Decatur; many-many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother.
The family of James Herman Rakers is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur.
