James Ronald Ridgeway's Obituary
Pana - Ron Ridgeway AKA “Pops” of Mount Auburn, Illinois passed away in the Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, Christian Co., IL at 11:30 PM, on Wednesday, 07 September 2022, he leaves a Host of friends and relatives to mourn his passing, Ron was well known and liked by many.
He was a Truck driver for the better part of his adult life, he had been known to work as many as 60 hours a week as late as 2020 at the age of 72, his last employer was Dowson Farms for whom he hauled grain, he worked up until January 2021 when his health began to fail.
Ron liked to Deer hunt, Camp, Fish and loved to Boat, he enjoyed riding Motorcycles, he liked to collect and shoot guns, and loaded his own shells, his aim was very accurate. He was a very proficient wood worker and liked to assist his wife Marcia in the production of Crafts which they both enjoyed doing. Ron enjoyed spending time with his Family and Grandchildren whom he Loved.
Ron’s full name was James Ronald Ridgeway, he was an only child, born 10 March 1948 in Taylorville, IL, the son of James Leonard “Hap” Ridgeway and Evelyn Leona Moore of Mount Auburn, IL.
The Ridgeway Family can trace their Roots back to Ron’s Great-Great Grandfather Ausburn Ridgeway who was born in Berkeley County, VA, in 1780 and died in 1841 at Buckhart, Sangamon Co., IL.
Ron married Marcia Lynn Westfall on 27 January 1990 in McCracken Co., KY, he helped raise Marcia’s Son’s Ray & Eddie, he endeared himself to his Children & Grandchildren and will be sadly missed by every one of them.
Ron was preceded in death by his Parents, & wife Marcia who passed away earlier this year on the 24th of April.
Survivors include the following: Sons Ray & Nancy Hutchins-Carter, and Edward & Cindy Quick-Smith.
Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren; Ray Carter's Family: Kendra, Katy & Clare Carter, Samantha & Matthew Steele. Edward Smith's Family: Skyler Gist & Children, Harvest & Ezra Gist, Eryka Smith & Austin Smith & son Carter Ray Smith, Cheyenne Quick & son Karter, Shelby Gentry & son Ayden.
Visitation will be from 11 am until the service time of 12 pm on Saturday, 10 September 2022, at Mt. Auburn Church of Christ and will be officiated by Diane Wheeler. Burial will take place at the Mount Auburn Cemetery in the Ridgeway Family Plot.
