James H. Roberts' Obituary
James H. Roberts, 88, of Decatur, IL of Decatur passed away on Saturday June 29, 2013 in his home.
James was born in Iowa on November 12, 1924 the son of James and Mabel Roberts. He was a Retired from the U.S. Army and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He also had been a volunteer for several years at Decatur Memorial Hospital and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He married Doris Marie Crum on April 30, 1950 in Decatur. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2006.
Surviving are his son, James David Roberts Jr. of Decatur; grandchildren, Kim Hollman of Decatur; Gerard Cartier of Decatur; granddaughter-in-law, Jodi Seitz of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one daughter, Barbara Ann Roberts.
The family would like to thank Donna Mayes for all her help and care of James during his illness.
Service to celebrate James H. Roberts' life will be 10 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor John Hafermann officiating. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery in Blue Mound with Military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois.
