James "Jim" Samuel Hearring's Obituary
James “Jim” Samuel Hearring, 93, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, in St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born September 24, 1925, in Olney, IL, the son of Samuel and Ada (Berry) Hearring. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII and was an Iwo Jima survivor. He married Patricia Berry on November 23, 1952 in Henderson, KY. Jim was a Right Away Purchaser for Illinois Power for many years. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia; two children, Debra (Joseph) Ruggeri of Fenton, MO and Robert (Lori) Hearring of Elwin, IL; two grandchildren, Jacob (Rachelle) Roddis of Decatur, IL and Anna Ruggeri of Panama City Beach, FL; two very special great-granddaughters, Isabella and Grace Roddis: and his sister-in-law, Clara Jo Hearring of Olney, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Hearring.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Jim Hearring will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2019, at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Macon Resources Incorporated Meaningful Meadows, PawPrint Ministries or Hudson Halfway Home.
