James Thomas Singleton's Obituary
James Thomas Singleton, 63, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away February 21, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
James was born in Brownsville, Tennessee, on August 29, 1960, the son of Fred and Eunice (White) Singleton. He worked for Grigolet until his health failed. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the 49ers and the Bulls. He was a star basketball player during his time at MacArthur High School. He had many friends in the neighborhood, and he shared his barbecuing skills generously with them. He knew the Lord and was a member of Northside Missionary Baptist Church. He was loved and cherished by all who knew him.
James is survived by his mother; sisters Sheila (Pastor Kenneth) Ambrose and Sylvia (Kenny) Robinson; and a host of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Fred Singleton, his brother Lee Singleton, and his sister Helen Raynette Singleton.
Funeral services for James will be held on Friday, March 1, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am, and Homegoing Service will begin at 11am. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery will follow the service. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.moranandgoebel.com.
