James A. Sutton's Obituary
Decatur-James A. Sutton Sr., 81, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1932 in Bethany, Illinois the son of Carrol and Mary (Majors) Sutton. He was employed as a foreman with Norman Cleaners and retired after thirty-eight years of service. He then found his true calling in life and became a minister. He served at Maranatha Assembly of God for seventeen years and Camp Wilson Foursquare Church for nine years. He also served as a chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital, volunteered at DMH and Water St. Mission, and lead Alcoholic Victorious. His passion in life was winning people to Jesus. He married Daisy Reynolds April 8, 1950. They were married for over sixty-three years.
He leaves behind his wife Daisy, children Linda (Jerry) Wolfe, James (Judith) Sutton Jr. of Decatur, Cheryl (Kenneth) Snoke of Evansville, Indiana, and Donald (Lisa) Sutton of Harristown, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, brothers Hubert and Robert Sutton, and sisters Florence Pritts and Betty Wilson.
Services to celebrate James’ life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Maranatha Assembly of God, 555 W. Imboden Decatur. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at the church. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Boody. Memorials may be directed to Second Church of God.
