Jane E. Myers' Obituary
On the morning of Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 7:10am. Jane E. Myers, 81 of Decatur was called
home to Jesus at her niece's residence.
Jane was born on October 23, 1944, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Cecil and Pearl Myers.
Jane grew up in Decatur, IL. Where she also graduated from Stephen Decatur High School.
After graduation, Jane joined the Army. After the Army, Jane lived a full life enjoying her family,
friends and going to church. Jane was an avid Cubs fan. Jane was also a lifelong member of
Decatur Foursquare Church.
Jane worked for Illinois Veterans affairs for many years, as she loved helping veterans and
making friends along the way. After she retired from Illinois Veteran Affairs, she worked at Dollar
General where she made many dear friends.
Jane is survived by her nieces Susan (Gabe) DeMatteo, Crystal Staley-Watts, nephews Jimmy
Staley and Tom Staley, Jeff (Kathy) Erlenbush. Jane is also survived by many great nieces, great
nephews and honorary grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Janet Staley, Elizabeth Myers. Brothers Jim
Myers, John Myers, and special sister in Christ Martha Erlenbush.
The family would like to thank Traditions Hospice staff for providing such great care. The family
would also like to thank Mariah, Jane’s Hospice nurse for the outstanding care that she provided
for Jane.
A celebration of Life will be held at Decatur Life Foursquare church on Saturday June 20th at
11AM.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will
live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die".
