Jannette Taylor's Obituary
Missionary Jannette C. Taylor, 97, of Decatur transitioned into eternity with her family by her side on Sunday July 21, 2013 in Symphony of Decatur. Jannette was born November 13, 1915 in Brownsville, TN. the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Perkins) Covington. She married J.D. Taylor in 1934 to union 11 kids were born. Before coming to Decatur, she was affiliated with St. James Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Mcneal of Memphis. She joined the House of Faith under the leadership of Elder Warren in 1965 Illinois. She later joined the Calvary Temple where she was the mother of the church. Jannette worked as a presser at Schudels Cleaners in Brownsville, TN. She completed the 11 grade in Haywood County High School. She believed in education, hard work, and being independent. Jannette would always stress 'Keep your house in order' and be fruitful and multiply.
She leaves to cherish her memories her 5 sons, Hillard D. (Brenda) Taylor of Redford, MI, Jimmie L. (Rosie) Taylor, Ronnie Taylor, Ricky (Marguerite) Taylor, and Donald W. taylor all of Decatur; 1 adopted son James Coleman of Decatur; 6 daughters Nannie Goforth, Hazel Muex, Juanita Taylor, Bobbie Taylor Thomas, Janice Taylor all of Decatur, Virgie (Robert) Banks of Springfield; 2 adopted daughters Florence Taylor and mattie Tyus both of Decatur; extended family Sandy, Bart Tanner, Jared, Cole; special friends Stella Hays, Georgia Taylor, Elder Leo, Honey Livingston; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren .
In addition to her parents, Jannette was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Taylor, son Gillette Taylor, brother Leroy Covington, sister Gustee Boyce, grandson Anthywon Taylor, granddaughter Arlene Taylor
Homegoing Celebration will be 11 AM Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Community Temple Church of God 759 S Jackson St. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Friday In the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery and conclude with the 'Flight Home' Ceremony.
