Jean Arline Black's Obituary
Maroa-Jean Arline Black, 69, of Maroa, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 15, 1944 in Decatur, the daughter of Darrell and Betty (Roby) Woolums. She was previously employed with Maroa Lumber Company for eighteen years, Goods Furniture Store, Arthur Furniture Store, and retired from Macon Resources. She was a member of the Maroa Christian Church, ABWA, Country Cloggers, founding member of Maroa-Forsyth Booster Club, and the Maroa Youth League. She married Larry Black February 24, 1962. He preceded her in death April 1, 2006.
She leaves behind her children Erik (Amy) Black of Dwight, Shannon (Bryan) Marshall of Oreana, and Heidi (Jason) McKinnis of Maroa, grandchildren Taylor Black, Anthony Black, Taran Black, Nathan Marshall, Jared Black, Hannah Johnson, and Adison Arline McKinnis, mother Betty Woolums of Eastern Star Home in Macon, brothers Darrell (Brenda) Woolums of Chestnut and Joe (Joann) Woolums, sisters Patty (Dick) Thomas, and Joanne Willey of Decatur, aunt Millie Woolums of Maroa, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special lunch bunch friends Binnie Benscoter, Jean Redman, Norma Miles, and Bonnie Alexander all of Maroa .
She was reunited in Heaven with her father and husband.
Jean was an amazing wife, mother, grandma, and friend. She lived her life to the fullest each day. She loved God, her family and friends with her whole heart. She would help anyone anytime. Jean is a perfect example of how we should all appreciate and love what God has given to us, tomorrow is not promised. She was more than a conqueror and Heaven is better to have her there. God bless!
Services to celebrate Jean’s life will be 12 noon Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Maroa Christian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Jean Black Memorial Fund.
