Jeannie Elaine Benedict's Obituary
Decatur - Jeannie (Jean) Benedict, 66, of Decatur Illinois, passed away on Saturday, December 6th, surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. Jeannie was born in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, one of two, on October 1st 1959, she was always proud of the fact that she was born a twin. She is survived by her twin brother, Jerry (Lori) Benedict, brother Rick (Pam) Benedict, two sisters, Janet (Joel) Goodpaster, and Joyce (Ray) Patch-Davis, her nieces and nephews, Mike (Melody) Patch, Dawn (Augustine) Asante, Rachel Benedict, Nolan (Ashley) Benedict, Tyrone (Jennifer) Byrd, Justin (Ally) Benedict, Logan Benedict, and Trisha Benedict, along with multiple great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces.
Jeannie spent her life being a caregiver, as both a CNA and as personal caregiver to her friends, family and neighbors. She was defined by her giving and generous heart. She provided what was needed, be it was mowing, food, or long-term caregiving. Jeannie was authentically herself, funny, spicy and also full of compassion. She was appreciated and loved by all her family, friends and neighbors, often going above and beyond to help them. She loved hummingbirds, her dogs, especially her sweet Ciarra, and her friends and family.
Jeannie was proceeded in death by her beloved Mother, Barbara Benedict, and nephew Gary Patch. There will be a private, immediate family service but any personal tributes or memorials can be sent to Pancreatic Cancer research or to Macon County Animal shelter.
