Jeannine "Jean" Marie Reed's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannine ‘Jean’ Marie Reed, who left this world on April 17, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 21, 1946, in Decatur, Illinois, Jean was a beloved mother, Nana, sister and aunt whose unwavering faith and immense love for her family illuminated the lives of all who knew her.
Jean was the cherished daughter of Thomas and Beata Keck. She grew up surrounded by her siblings, with whom she shared countless treasured memories.
She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Tina Gurley, and her youngest grandson, Nicolas Allen Gurley. Jean now joins her parents and her brothers Bob, Tom, and Joe, along with her sisters Betty and Carolyn, who have all left a profound mark on her life.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Valerie Jordan, and her adoring grandchildren: Romaine Allen, Tremaine Allen, Will Jordan, Emma Jordan, son-in-law Tom Jordan and Roxi, her favorite 4 legged baby. Jean also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Virginia Thompson, Jim Keck, Sylvia Dougherty, Marilyn DeChant, Don Keck, Cathy Tokarz, Bill Keck, and John Keck, as well as many very special nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, each of whom she held close to her heart.
Jean's life was a tapestry of devotion and service. With an employment history that included factory work and most recently housecleaning and caregiving for those in need, Jean's kindness and compassion were evident in every aspect of her life. Her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit; she found joy in gardening and took great pride in the beauty of her yard. She dedicated countless hours in perpetual adoration at St. Mary’s Hospital chapel, where her faith was a guiding light. A faithful servant at St. James and Patrick’s Church, Jean embodied the spirit of community and generosity. Jean's unwavering faith and commitment to her church volunteer work were testaments to her character—a character defined by an intense love for her family, especially her daughters and cherished grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.
As we remember Jean, we celebrate a woman who lived her life with grace, compassion, strength and an abundance of love for those around her. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Jean will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday (04-24-2025) at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M.
