Jeremy S. Godden's Obituary
Jeremy Shane Godden, 49, of Decatur, IL, passed away on March 1, 2024, in Peoria, IL. He was born on May 25, 1974, in Decatur, IL.
Jeremy was a kind-hearted man who was beloved by all who knew him. He was known for his playful nature and his love for singing. Jeremy had a special bond with his family and enjoyed teasing his siblings and nieces and nephews. He was also blessed to have a second family. He cherished his time with his foster family, Don and Betty and their children, sharing moments of singing hymns, listening to country music and most of all enjoying pizza, sweet tea. He also did a lot of traveling together with his second family. Jeremy's infectious laughter and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jeremy is survived by his sister Lori Eaton and her spouse Jon Eaton, his brothers Brad Godden and his spouse Amanda Godden, Bryan Godden and his spouse Sonya Godden, his foster father Don Deckard, his foster mother Betty Deckard, his foster siblings Joe, Ben, and Emily Deckard, as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Jerry Godden and his mother Linda Hancock.
A service to celebrate Jeremy's life will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 11:00; visitation will begin at 10am at: Faith Baptist Church of South Shores, 875 Grove Rd, Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Autism Speaks at https://www.autismspeaks.org/donate.
