Jerome Brenner's Obituary
Jerome "Jerry" Brenner, 85, of Decatur, died on Sat. Sept. 9, 2006 in his home.
Graveside services will be 12 pm Wed. Sept. 13, 2006 in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Rabbi Michael Datz officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Temple B'Nai Abraham.
Jerry was born on July 14, 1921 in Chicago, the son of Morris and Anna Brenner. He was the Superintendent of Veteran's Assistance Commission of Macon County for 19 years retiring in October of 2005. Jerry proudly served his country in the Army during WWII where he received 2 Purple Hearts. He was a member of the Temple B'Nai Abraham, Breakfast Optimist Club, American Legion Post # 105, VFW #99, DAV Chapter #17, Military Order of Purple Hearts, 103 Division Association of WWII Army Veterans, and the Vietnow Chapter Auxiliary. Jerry worked tirelessly for all Veterans, especially Macon County Veterans. He was instrumental in obtaining the VA Clinic here in Decatur as well as the All Veterans Memorial. Jerry married Gail E. Gant on April 6, 1996 in Decatur.
He leaves behind to celebrate his life his wife Gail of Decatur; son, Jeffrey Debbie Brenner of Elgin; daughters: Marcy Joe Carmichael of Tinley Park and Ami Paul Pickley of Bartlett. Grandchildren: Adam, Evan, Cole, Kate and Megan; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry's 85 years at his residence on Wednesday and Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 pm.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; 1 sister; wife, Lavern and son in law, Tony.
Jerry was loved and admired by many. He will be greatly missed.
