Pastor Jerry Wayne Adams, Sr.'s Obituary
Pastor Jerry Wayne Adams, Sr., 57, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Wed, Jan, 31, 2007, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Homegoing services will be 11 am Fri, Feb. 9, 2007, at Solid Rock Full Gospel Church, 1160 E. Locust, Decatur, Bishop E. L. Warren, eulogist. Visitation will be from one hour prior to the service with burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Pastor Adams was born on July 12, 1949 in Brownsville, TN, to the union of Jimmy Joe and Inell Bradford Adams. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a retiree of Bridgestone/Firestone after 25 years of service. Through the leading of the Lord he was founder of the Solid Rock Full Gospel Church. Pastor Adams was joined in Holy Matrimony to Gail E. Gilmore on Oct. 4, 1975 in Decatur.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Gail of Decatur; 3 sons: Jerry Adams, Jr., Ishmael Adams and Galen Adams all of Decatur; 3 daughters: Yolanda Adams of Florida, Cambria Adams and Chastity Adams both of St. Louis; sisters: Amy Adams and Julie Pugh both of Brownsville, TN, Mrs. Josephine Van Buren of St. Louis, and Mrs. Lucille Vincent Patterson of Decatur; seven grandchildren: Ayriana and Amaria Adams of Decatur, beautiful, Xavier and Malik Adams of Florida, Rahmad Adams-Dees and Malachi Palmer of St. Louis; brothers-in-law: Jerry Paulette Gilmore of Geneseo, Lowell Terri Gilmore of Matteson, Michael Gilmore of Decatur, Mark Gilmore of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law: Joyce Robert Johnson of Dunwoody, GA, Antoniette Elroy Mitchell of Decatur; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jessie, Lonnie, James, William and Eddie Adams; two sisters, Geraldine Adams and Nellie Adams Cole.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Baumberger, Dr. Mohammed Dawood, and the DMH ICU staff.
