Jewel Lee Hardin Snipes' Obituary
Jewel Lee Hardin Snipes, 73, of Decatur, passed from this life Saturday, January 12, 2008 in her home.
Ms. Hardin was born February 10, 1934, in Brownsville, TN to the union of the late Walter & Lucille Nickolson Hardin. She attended Brownsville public schools and as a teenager joined Cane Creek Baptist Church in Brownsville. She later met and married T. Willie Snipes, Sr. on March 25, 1951. From this union seven children were born. In 1979 she moved from Ripley, TN to Decatur to be with her children. She worked at the Boys & Girls Club for a short period of time. In the late 80's Jewel traveled back and forth to St. Louis, MO to care for her sick mother until her death. She then lived out her days in Decatur with her children enjoying the summer time because she loved the sun & flowers.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her sons: Benny Snipes, T. Willie Darnella Snipes, Walter Snipes, Mosezeil Snipes and Johnny Snipes all of Decatur; brothers: Alvin Linda Hardin of Mansfield, OH, and Sammy Lee Hardin of St. Louis, MO; granddaughter, Toni E. Snipes whom she raised as her own, 14 additional grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, 1 sister, and 3 brothers.
Homegoing services 11 am, Saturday, January 19, 2008, Church Of The Living God P.G.T. Temple #2. Visitation will be one hour before service time with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
