Jewel Lee Fox's Obituary
Jewel Fox, 74, of Decatur was born into this life on Friday, March 29, 1935, in Rosedale, Mississippi, became the joyous addition in the lives of his parents, Louella Scott-Ambrose and Dilwood Fox.
Jewel’s Christian journey began early in life. Shortly after making Decatur, IL his permanent place of residency, Jewel surrendered his life to Christ and united in fellowship with the Church of the Living God P.G. T. #2 of Decatur, IL Jewel remained a member there until he united with Bright Morning Star M.B. Church in March 2008. Throughout his life, Jewel displayed loving characteristics to all those he met-both near and far. Jewel lived his life as a brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Though receiving only a limited education, his life, smile, and joyous personality won Jewel many life-long, lasting friendships. Growing up, Jewel loved the sound of music. His days were filled with making music for others from the sound of his guitar. Jewel had a unique way of creating and singing his own music. Jewel added life, harmony, and compassion to every song he sang. May his gift and love of music continue in GloryÃ?¬land.
Jewel’s life returned to God in the stillness of the afternoon on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 4:17 p.m. Surrounded by his beloved family members and friends, Jewel’s soul departed quietly from this life into life everlasting as he took hold of Jesus’ hands to embrace His eternal promises.
Jewel’s past life was blessed with the presence of many loving family members. Now, memories of his life are cherished by: One very special brother-in-law, Peoria Verile Flagg of Decatur, IL; one step-sister, Jackie Brown of Decatur, IL; a host of nieces and nephews, extending to great-great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Jewel was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Florence Lee Matthews, Odessa Sayles, Emma Marie Clayton, and Verile Wilson Flagg; and one brother, James C. Ambrose.

Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 am Saturday February 27, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Rev. T. J. Jackson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
