Jim L Haws' Obituary
Decatur-Jim Haws left this world on May 7, 2011 to be with Bert, his beloved wife. Jim was born February 25, 1935 in Decatur, IL the son of Cleveland and Minerva Mershon Haws, the youngest of ten children; Jim married Roberta Sue Kuykendall on April 14, 1956. They had one son, Mike.
Jim had many occupations during his life and was always willing to help others. In Jim’s last years he discovered his love for writing and authored several books and short stories.
Jim is survived by his son, Mike Haws of Clinton and granddaughters Christin Haws of Clinton and Lindsay Haws of Denton, TX; great-granddaughters Samara, Teaghan, and Adrielle; his brother Ben Marilyn Haws; his sister Ruby Harry Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bert, and seven siblings.
A special thanks to Jim’s sister-in-law Jo Ellen Etnire; his niece Nancy Bass and his great-nephew Jacob Bass-Barber who cared for Jim during his long battle with heart disease.
As per Jim’s wishes no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Macon County Humane Society and the Salvation Army.
