Jim "Jimbo" Peterson's Obituary
Jim ‘Jimbo’ Peterson
James William Peterson, 65, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on March 18, 2024. He was born on May 28, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois.
Jimbo was a Customer Service Extraordinaire who brought joy to many with his happy-go-lucky nature and his infinite storytelling. In the 1980’s, he held numerous skilled roles as a young adult, but gravitated to the transportation business where he worked as a taxi driver and dispatcher. In the 1990’s he launched a chauffeur service and created opportunities for many drivers of all diversities in the Chicagoland area. Later in life he relocated to Decatur to kickstart a Chicago-style eatery with the help of his son and a family friend. Jimbo was a natural explorer who enjoyed playing rounds of golf, keeping up with current events, walking the dog, and assisting his son’s family in navigating their business ventures.
James is survived by his heirs; his beloved son (Zane), daughter-in-law (Taylor), and beautiful granddaughter; along with siblings, an older brother (John) and younger sister (Judy). He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore W. and Joan M. Peterson. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Moran and Goebel on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 12 noon with a visitation one hour before.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heritage Behavioral Health Center for mental health awareness, in memory of Jim.
Jim will forever be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and enthusiasm. Jim believed firmly in Jesus as our lord and savior. May he enter the gates of heaven and rest in peace.
