Jimmie Dean Sutherland's Obituary
Jimmie Dean Sutherland, 65, of Decatur, died Sunday, September 28, 2008.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 30, from 6 – 8 p.m. in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Thomas Catholic Church or St. Theresa High School.
Jimmie was born July 2, 1943 in Decatur, to Jack, Sr. and Sue Ann Strong Sutherland. He was a United States Army veteran. He retired from Wagner casting as a furnace operator. He was an avid bowler, and he enjoyed playing pool through the American Pool Association. He loved to go watch women’s basketball at Millikin University and St. Theresa High School. He was a devoted Cubs fan, and he loved to travel, having been to all 48 inland states.
Jimmie is survived by his sister, Judy Gentry Mike; brother, Jack Sutherland, Jr. Doris Marie; brother Jerry “Jake” Sutherland, all of Decatur; and half-brother, Duane Sims of Sault Ste. Marie, Mi; and several nieces and nephews, and step-nieces and step-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew in infancy, Todd Eugene Sutherland.
The family of Jimmie Dean Sutherland is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe St., Decatur.
