Jimmie D. Winters, 56, of Decatur passed away on Saturday May 2, 2009 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Homegoing services will be 2:00 pm Friday May 8, 2009 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Minister Doris Green officiating. Visitation will be 12 noon until 2:00 pm in the funeral home. The family request casual attire, please.
He was born on April 1, 1953 in Brownsville, TN the son of Tanner and Betty Bells Winters. He worked as a Maintenance worker for the Decatur Housing Authority. He enjoyed collecting model cars. He married Lois Mayes on May 30, 1972 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife Lois Winters; sons, Sgt. Tracy Winters April of Colorado Springs, CO; Jimmie Winters, Jr. Chelle Allston of Decatur; sisters Maggie Anderson of Decatur; Ruby Winters of Decatur; grandchildren: Brittani, Brianna, J'Kyra, Tynisha, Scyllir, and Kierra; God daughter, Marniece Banks; God son, Lynn Banks; special friends, Rev. Ozell Banks, J.C. Johnson, Sharon Best, and Jill Jones; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Tommy Winters and John Winters.
The family would like to thank Dr. Delores Estrada-Garcia, Cancer Care Center, and 5th floor oncology at DMH for all their care.
