Jo Ann “Jody” Smith (Grandma Jojo)
September 18, 1941 – September 12, 2025
Jo Ann “Jody” Smith (Howell), 83, of Decatur, passed away on September 12, 2025 at DMH with her daughter Shelley by her side. She was born in Shelbyville, IL to Helen and George Jo “Buck” Howell. Jody cherished her daughters Shelley Wallis and Tammy Kingery, her 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jack (Pam) Howell and her beloved dog, Yogi.
Jody was an avid bowler and enjoyed friendships made at the lanes over the years. She enjoyed traveling, and dancing at the VFW with her friends. Known as a spitfire with a quick wit, she had a gift for making everyone laugh. She was preceded in death by her parents and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and sass.
In her honor, hug your dog, go on that vacation, laugh loudly, and never pass up a good dance floor.
