Joan Hartman, 81, of Forsyth, formerly of Stuart, Florida, died Monday December 4, 2006, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Visitation, funeral, and a memorial service will be held in Jensen Beach, Florida, at a later date. Memorials: American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
Mom had recently moved to Forsyth to live with her son, Scott; his wife Becky; and their daughter, Emily.
Mom was born on April 10, 1925, in Benedict, Nebraska. She was the youngest of four children born to Hazel and Arthur Belcher. On June 30, 1945, she married my father, Edward A. Hartman, in Nebraska, and later moved to Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where they raised four children. Dad preceded Mom in death on September 14, 1992 in Florida where they had retired.
Mom devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed playing bridge and visiting with her numerous friends in Illinois and Florida. Mom always saw the good in everyone.
Surviving are her sons, Edward A. Hartman IV Denise of Chicago, and Arthur Scott Hartman Becky of Forsyth; her daughter, Janet D. Kane Charles of Windermere, Florida; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters, husband, daughter, and grandson.
Special thanks to the 4100 staff of DMH. I'll miss you, Mom.
The family of Joan Hartman is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur.
