Joann Lewis Curtis' Obituary
Joann Lewis Curtis, 76, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Decatur, IL.
She was born in Quincy, IL, on December 10, 1949, to the late Joseph A. Lewis and Lillian Leslie Lewis.
Joann earned her bachelor’s degree at Millikin University before going into a career in data administration. She was a valuable asset to many companies over the years, eventually retiring from Ameren.
Many years were spent supporting her children as they participated in the Pony of the Americas Club. From showing and training the horses to helping manage the barn, Joann was always ready for the next adventure. She even gave several summers to driving a horse trailer across the country and back for shows.
Joann enjoyed listening to the music of the 60’s and 70’s, attending local theatre performances, traveling when she was able, and reading a good book. She loved any excuse to spend time with others, keeping up regular gatherings with her friends Kelli, Jenny, Diana, and Pat.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman C. Curtis Jr., in 2011; and her partner of many years, Michael “Mike” Frank, in 2025.
Those left to cherish her memory include: children, Alix Frazier and husband Benjamin, Charles Curtis and wife Danielle Maloni; brother, John Lewis; grandchildren, Stanley Frazier, Isabelle Frazier, Charlotte Frazier, and Alex Curtis; beloved dog, Ditka, and special horse, Toby.
A visitation for Joann will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Memorial celebration will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Macon County Memorial Park.
