Joe E. O' Dell's Obituary
Joe E. O’Dell, 82, of Decatur passed away on Friday morning August 16, 2013 in St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room.
Joe was born on February 4, 1931 in Decatur, IL the son of Victor E. and Mildred (Allen) O’Dell. He served his country proudly in the US. Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He was a 64 year member and former Business agent of Plumbers and Pipefitters local #65. He married Mary “Beryl” Martin on February 11, 1951 she preceded him in death on January 21, 2013. They were married 61years.
Joe is survived by his children Stephan (Carolyn) O’Dell of Decatur, Mollie (Robert) Frick of Homewood, IL; Victor O’Dell of Decatur; Jo Anne ODell formerly of Decatur; grandchildren Rev. Matthew Frick of Alexandria, LA; Robert Frick (Lauren) of Palatine, IL; Johanna Frick of Tinley Park, IL; Katie (Marc) Largent of Bloomington, IL; and Megan O’Dell of Decatur. .
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, Thelma Lee Thomalla.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church 2055 S. Franklin St. Road Decatur, Illinois 62521 with Pastor Michael Damery officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and 9:30 – 10:30 AM Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Lutheran School Association of Decatur or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
