John H. Coleman's Obituary
On June 27, 2010 God laid John H. Coleman Jr. to rest to await the second coming of Jesus.
John lovingly known as Jimmy was born in Brownsville, TN on May 6, 1921 the son of John H. and Eva Coleman.
The family relocated to Decatur, IL where Jimmy attended elementary and high school. In 1942 at the age of 21, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1946 with three bronze stars, and received a certificate of recognition from the State of Illinois for having served patriotically and faithfully in the Armed Forces of the Untied States during WWII. On July 10, 1946 Jimmy married the love of his life, Ruth Hempstead. He had various occupations retiring from A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. He enjoyed playing baseball, his family, and friends. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a long time member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, IL.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brother-in-law, Homer Hempstead and wife Mildred of Rockford, IL; four, second cousins, Margaret Banks McMurray and husband William of Magalia, CA; Effie Williams of Stone Mountain, GA; Patricia Banks, Clayton Banks, and Gordon Banks of San Bernardino, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, and other cousins and friends.
Farewell and Tribute service will be 11:00 am Tuesday July 6, 2010 in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. C.D. Stuart officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 Ã?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ 8:00 pm Monday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
