John Jackson's Obituary
Elder John Jackson age 77 went to be with the Lord at 10:15 am Thursday October 20, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Homegoing services will be 11:00 am Thursday. October 27, 2005 in Victory Temple Apostolic Church 790 S. 17th Street here in Decatur with Rev. Dora Ewing officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
Elder Jackson was born on October 9, 1928 in Brownsville, TN the son of Frank Jackson and Minnie Bell Flagg Jackson. He was like a modern day Moses bringing family and friends up from the south and opening up his home to them until they got on their feet. He was a mechanic and enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was ordained as a minister in the 1960's. He was a member of Apostolic Ministry of Discipleship. He married Mattie Sue Mann on November 17, 1947 in West Memphis, AR. To this union, eight children were born.
He leaves to cherish memories sons; John A. Jackson, Randy Jackson Tracey, Quinton Witherspoon all of Decatur; daughters; Georgia Cook Robert, Juanita Hunt Johnny, Christine, Kimberly Duane all of Decatur; Patricia Rogers Clayton of New York, Cynthia Light Willie of Peoria, IL; Paula Ingram Charles of Decatur; He has one devoted sister, Glenora Patterson of Decatur, IL 38 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elder John was preceded in death is his parents, his wife Mattie Jackson, son Danny Jackson, three brothers, and five sisters.
The family of Elder John would like to extend a special thank you to his nephew Melvin Patterson and wife Stacey for their loving care of him, and also the ICU nurses at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
